GUYS… Today I’m bringing the fiber guru, Tanya Zuckerbrot, MS, RDN on AHTK!

Last summer, I interned at F-Factor and learned SO MUCH from Tanya.

Interning for Tanya was an unforgettable experience. I left the familiarity of Chicago to intern at F-Factor in New York and Tanya and the F-Factor team made me feel comfortable and at home.

During my first week interning at F-Factor, the interns and I were scheduled to have a F-Factor education session with Tanya for 2 hours… We had so many questions that she cleared her calendar and spent an additional 2 hours educating us and asking about our previous experience with F-Factor.

I’m SO excited to have her on the blog because she has had such a great impact on my life… I learned about portion control, how to not rely on exercise for weight loss & maintenance, and how to live the F-Factor way! She has been such a great mentor and is a hustler. She always says, “Don’t be afraid to work twice as hard as anyone else. Do more than what is expected of you; come in early, stay late and never compare yourself to others. It doesn’t happen overnight, but hard work does pay off”. She truly practices what she preaches.

Q+A with Tanya:

Tell us what F-Factor is and how it was founded!

F-Factor is the most liberating and sustainable approach to weight loss and optimal health. What started out as a nutrition counseling private practice, F-Factor is now the fastest growing wellness brand featuring its best-selling 20/20 FIBER/PROTEIN powders and the popular 20/20 recipes behind them. The F-Factor Diet was a byproduct of my early work as a Registered Dietitian, when I acted as an extension of the medical team of clinical patients with conditions like cardiovascular disease and diabetes. My job was to create meal plans that would lower the cholesterol of cardiovascular patients or, in the case of the diabetics, help to manage their blood sugar levels. Both patient populations received versions of a high fiber diets because of fiber’s ability to lower cholesterol and manage blood sugar levels. The patients got healthier: cholesterol improved, sugars were better managed, and unexpectedly, across the board, all of these patients lost weight. The clients were living their lives normally, enjoying meals at their favorite restaurants, drinking alcohol, and getting healthier in the process. What I had not anticipated was that by prescribing so much fiber for the clinical benefits, these patients were simply feeling fuller throughout the day on fewer calories, which led to weight loss without hunger. Friends and colleagues of theirs noticed too and began to call in, requesting diets for themselves, but purely for the weight loss benefits, not to manage their sugars or cholesterol. This was the birth of the F-Factor Diet and the practice continued to grow from there.

What role does fiber have on our health and why is it so important?

When it comes to health and overall wellbeing, fiber is everything; it has the most incredible weight management and health benefits.

When it comes to weight management, fiber fills you up and keeps you feeling full for hours but is low in calories. It also revs metabolism and binds with fat and calories and ushers them out of the body. It’s really the secret to weight loss without hunger and it’s what allows you to eat carbs and still lose weight.

Because fiber aids in weight management it helps reduce risk for obesity, and the resultant health implications being obese puts you at risk for. Fiber also improves gut health, supports healthy cholesterol levels and healthy blood sugar regulation, alleviates periodic and temporary constipation, improves sleep habits and promotes overall wellness. Everyone can benefit from adding fiber to their diets.

Both the keto diet and intermittent fasting are trending in the health and wellness space. Why is F-Factor the best diet?

F-Factor is the best diet because is both liberating and sustainable. I’ve been eating this way for over 20 years now. F-Factor truly lets you live your life. Can you take us through a day of eating?

For me, a perfect F-Factor Approved Step 1 Day of eating and drinking for me begins with a F-Factor latte and berries first thing in the morning, followed by F-Factor 20/20 waffles. Lunch is a huge salad of nonstarchy vegetables and lean protein (usually egg whites and grilled chicken), and for snack I will either do a 20/20 smoothie, 20/20 muffins (I love the blueberry muffins with the crumb topping!) or a F-Factor Fiber/Protein Bar with cup of chai tea. Dinner is a small salad, protein (3-4 oz), vegetables, and a glass of wine.
