How To Get Glowy Skin With Serum

LET’S TALK ABOUT SERUM.

It’s my new fave topic – I prefer it over small talk.

I’ve been obsessing over serums for what seems like FOREVER. I was very – VERY hesitant to purchase my first bottle… They are somewhat expensive!

Last spring break, my mom and I had our fave kind of GNO – to the spa! I mean… where else my mom and I go when we have free time?!! We got a facial, our nails done ( light pink essie, per ush ), and a massage.

Of course, I had SO many questions for my facialist. At this point, I wasn’t 21 yet, but I’ve started to become more curious about skin care and the prevention of aging. Studies show that collagen production decreases as soon as we turn 20… ( rant HERE ). Collagen is what makes our skin elastic and bouncy – AKA, not wrinkle. At this point, I added collagen peptides to my diet for preventative measure.

I’ve been a dietetics student for 3 years ( & counting… ) and we study the importance of preventing chronic diseases with a healthy lifestyle. After learning about the importance of prevention, it only makes sense to apply the theory of prevention to my skin care routine…

My facialist explained that serums are loaded with nutrients, ceramides, glycerin, natural ingredients, and vitamins. Serums have the ability to penetrate deep within the layers of our skin and are EXTREMELY concentrated… Most face creams contain 5-10% active ingredients while a face serum can contain up to 70% active ingredients. This means that you will ACTUALLY get results – whether you want to brighten your skin, even out the tone, reduce fine lines, or get rid of those darn dark spots.

I like to call it, “breakfast for my skin” because my skin just EATS IT UP and it just really brightens up my skin and gives me an overall glowier skin tone. Isn’t that what we are all going for?!!

Since spring break ( which was at the end of March ), I’ve used about half of my bottle – and I’ve used it EVERY DAY. I apply about a dime size drop of serum to my palm after I wash my face and massage it into my skin evenly. If I have extra serum, I always apply it to my neck or the back of my hands.

NEVER EVER waste a good serum!! This stuff is liquid GOLD!

I use the Oligoforce by Phytomer, a skincare company that uses marine biotechnology to product products with natural ingredients, and have LOVED the results; my skin has gotten brighter, glowier, and my skin tone has evened out. If you want to buy your own serum, you can purchase it HERE and use code “HAILEY20” at checkout to get 20% off your purchase…

BIBLE…!!

WHO ELSE IS PSYCHO ABOUT SKIN CARE ??!!

  1. How did you settle on the Oligoforce brand versus other options? I’m also interested in serums (and I reckon they are a good sub for small talk too 😉 ) but like you said, they’re expensive, so I want to invest in the right one and there’s so much info out there!

    1. YAS GIRL! it’s SO important to make sure that you’re investing in a serum that works best for your skin. i chose Phytomer because my facialist recommended that specific brand for me. when i started using their serum, i enjoyed the overall experience of using it – i found that my skin more of an even tone, was softer, and more glowy. also, i like the refreshing smell and feeling/texture of the serum. i hope that helps! xx
